AI/CDF brainstorm meeting, December 2006
Advocacy International advises the US-based Children’s Defense Fund on a potential campaign to end maternal mortality.
Since attending the Jordan conference of the Global Women’s Action Network in 2006, Advocacy International has been working closely with Mrs Marian Wright Edelman and her team at the Children’s Defense Fund (CDF), Washington. CDF is planning to launch a global campaign to limit the deaths each year of about 14 million mothers and their babies during pregnancy, childbirth and infancy.
CDF grew out of the Civil Rights Movement and traces its heritage to Dr Martin Luther King Jr and his ‘Poor People’s Campaign’. Since its foundation in 1973, CDF has been the strongest voice in the US advocating for children and families.
